Russ: Please don't renew my subscription

Dear Russ - My subscription will expire next month. Please don't renew it.

Red Hot Pawn has been a good experience, but the urge to compete has faded, and ego won't allow me to continue to play if I can't do so at (what I consider) to be an acceptable level. It's possible I'll be back one day, but that will depend on future circumstances.

Thank You for creating a great chess site. - mchill 🙂

You simply cancel your direct debit.

I tried that. The message said "Unable to comply because your subscription is still active"

Scroll down the page and click 'Send feedback.'

No need to post this in a public forum. (Where the title actually appears quite negative to passing traffic).

- - I did send feedback

- - Excuse me, I tried to cancel through my subscription page without success, so didn't know what else to do, and if you would please read what I posted, you'll see it's quite positive.

I said the 'title' could appear negative, and again this is not something to bring to a public forum.

If you have already sent feedback, be patient.

It's not a direct debit, it's a concurrent card payment, your bank can't cancel those. Well, they can but like a direct debit the company still has your details and can still collect the money. Unless you put a block on that company which is a tad extreme and unnecessary for not renewing a subscription on a chess website.

This thread belongs more in help.

If it belongs anywhere. I've cancelled my sub loads of times here, it's so simple. There's an option when sending feedback for subs. Might take a few days to get an email response but it always comes through.

OP is just being dumb and impatient.

Hi mchill,

Check the detail in the subscription itself; mine says “non recurring”.
I think they used to be recurring some years ago, or maybe it’s an option when you sign up, can’t remember.
But worth checking.

Anyway Russ will get back to you; sometimes takes a few days.

PS you haven’t made a chess move here in 237 days old chap. 🤷‍♂️

A fanfare thread.

Mine says active recurring. And below it clearly says 'send feedback to cancel'.

It seems my attempt to leave here on a positive note has failed. My sincere apologies for my lack of skill in navigating the site.

Goodbye
