The scoring system used on this site (3 pts for a win, 1 for a draw) is unusual. One possible drawback of it is possible in tournaments, where the players would normally agree to draws in both games to split the points. With this system, its better for both players to resign one each (If they trust the opponent to go along with this....).

true!



But not the case if you want to win the tournament, then every point lost brings you further away from the topspot.
The same goes for football, they have the same scoring system...
