For some reason, since the website overhaul, I can no longer find where I need to go find a specific game by number; the public games section seems to only allow one to search by player name. Am I missing something?

Thanks,

-mike

Hey there Mike, not sure I understood your question correctly so bear with me.

If you want to search for a game with a specific number, say game no. 150,000 then go to public games, click "view game history" for one of the games, then in the addy at the top of your screen replace whatever the number is at the end with 150,000. This then takes you to the view game history of game id 150,000.

If on the other hand you want to find the game id of a game between two particular people just type in their names in the search by player name bit and on the left of the screen of results will be the game number you are looking for.

Did this answer your question?

Came up with pbustin vs Rival Online (no game history). You should be able to see the board and the pieces, just not play back the moves.

Not every single game is in the archives (I don't think 2 is for example) but the vast, vast majority are.

Mark

PS I just tried doing a similar thing to search for threads by thread id. Number 1 didn't come up but thread number 2 and thread number 6 did!

Some trouble maker called "Rhymester" started thread 6 😀

Okay Mark, (How come you spell your name wrong?) 😀

I copied the url and did see game 1. Then I changed the 1 into a 2 and tried that, but all I got was a 'fatal error' message thing.

My first game here was #18, and I was just trying to see who played 1-17.

Hmmm...
People are always calling me that. (Marc, that is) Well OK, deviant too, once in a while.😕

Actually you're right on the mark. I'm using the french variation.

Thanks, that was all I needed to know. For some reason, I thought I remembered there being a searchable field for game number, but this will work just fine.

Thanks,

-mike
