It seems I have lost sound on my laptop, it says "No audio output device is installed", which is interesting, being I have had sound on it for a year.

    Any thoughts? Please help.

    if using XP:

right click "my computer" > select "manage" from the menu.
click on device manager in left hand window
expand "sound video and game controls" option

does your sound card appear in the list?, right click it and check to see if it reported as wokring properly - maybe reinstall drivers for ir or uninstall and restart laptop (which will re-install it)

if its not there then . . . dunno.
