Ah.

I presume you're also the kind of person who thinks an author has a duty to his readers, and who tells Rowling that she got the ending to Hairy Blotter and the Wotsis Last One With The Marriages wrong.

It's their site. Not yours. Not even a little piece. Theirs. Get over it.

Nonsense. Without customers they don't have customers. Without a server they don't have a site.

Create something yourself and see how kindly you take to having people tell you how to run it from a position of ignorance.

Without customers they have no reason for the server space.

I don't think you've even read anything i've said, i'm not telling them how to run their site i'm merely saying i don't think it's fair that some people are paying $15 (or less) while others are forced to pay $40.

If anyone is showing ignorance it's you.

"I'm not telling them how to RUN their site, I'm telling them how to RUIN their site".

That's basically what you're saying. I've read what you wrote, rest assured.

You or anyone else has no idea what would happen to the finances of the site if they were to introduce a same price for all structure.

I think they'll be better off in the long run with the same price for all but like everyone else i'm guessing and that really isn't what this is about.

We already talked about 'what this is all about'. It's about YOU messing up and losing your locked in price. It would make you feel better to make EVERYONE pay 40 bucks so you didn't feel so stupid for leaving the site over a 7 day ban from the forums.

It was 14 days and this isn't what it's about, i thought you had been reading what I've been saying... obviously not.

If i was paying a yearly sub of $15 like yourself my opinion would be the same (and before you ask, of course i would continue to pay at $15 while others were) I'm looking at it from the perspective of the potential new subscriber.

I can't help you see you're real problem with the cost if you keep kidding yourself.

If you REALLY want to sub up for 40 bucks, you will regardless of what I am paying... or anyone else. You've decided NOT to sub up because not EVERYONE pays the same price.

I've never seen anyone kid themselves so much. When you want the truth, let me know. Fooling yourself is simple, fooling others isn't so easy.

Then again a new subscriber only sees the current price and makes their decision on that.

They are not thinking that Joe Bloggs who has been a member for 10 years is only paying $15.

Unless they read the forums, they will be unaware that there are people paying cheaper rates and even then, most people would understand the concept of the loyalty bonus.

I understand the concept just fine and wouldn't have a problem with it if it was say, $1 off the subscription fee for every year you've been a subscriber or something.

Why does it irk you so much that its more than $1 a year?

Surely the only one to decide the level of discount should be site owners who are running the business?

How would your model work for a previous sub of 8 years who lapsed for 11 months and then came back.

What about someone with 8 years previous membership involved in a car crash who goes into a coma for 2 years, recovers and rejoins?

Do they get a discount for the 8 years they were previously a sub when they rejoin or is that lost?

Is is fair to penalise them due to circumstances beyond their control?

Where do you draw the line?
