How does the points system work on here?

Do you get more points if you beat someone than if they resigned from a game?

If your opponent resigns that is beating them (and indeed how most games end). All victories (over two moves) are treated equally for the purposes of ratings, clan challenges and tournament points.

No, but you get more points if you win against stronger opponents (higher rating) than weaker one.
And you lose more points if you lose to a weaker opponent than a stronger one.

Doesn't matter if he resign, is mated or even timed out. If you win you win. The new rating poinst is calculated from your rating points before, and only that.
