umlaut does not work properly

Since the update (weekend) some typical german carcaters do not show up properly. I don't see ä, ö or ü, but empty rectangles in the messagelog.

There is also no possibility to write in Latvian (windows-1257), probably it would be possible to fix this? not too important, but still nice if I play with Latvians and can message them in Latvian with all the right letters.
