One last go...
1. This tournament was labelled clearly as for those who are 'vacation phobic'.
2. I seem to be being advised to do some clever things with my vacation flag to counteract my opponents actions. He has run out of time! That is not my fault.
3. I have been very polite is asking my opponent what the position is, with no reply.
No-o ...[text shortened]... correct, even if no 'rules' are broken. That is why I will be raising a 'fair play' flag.
Don't join these tourneys if YOU can't understand that vacation is allowed for every player.
You get 36 days to use as you will. Your ticket WILL NOT have any affect outside of admins needing to read it. Just wasted time on your part and theirs.
Know the rules.

There is no difference other than the 0/21 tournament is labelled "Only for the hardcore and vacation phobic."
The best idea would be to do away with vacation time altogether and let people play to the time limits accepted for each game.
It would stop all the nonsense threads in the forums asking about why is my opponent able to go on vacation in a tournament for the vacation phobic, move while on vacation, time me out while on vacation etc etc.
Regrettably, the membership voted for the additional days [voteid]13[/voteid] and now we all have to live with the consequences.
Wherther it is morally correct or not is irrelevant?
You could ask if it morally correct to claim a timeout win in a game that is clearly lost, because your opponent runs out of time?
Is it a fair play issue? Yes to some, no to some and who gives a rats arse to others.
At end of day they can only go on vaction for so long, once their flag falls they have to move immediately after you do or risk the timeout skull.
Its only a timing issue, nothing to get worked up about.
Originally posted by mwmillerNo, I have 3 games where my opponent has run out of time however the skull is not there just the vacation flag.
I have a question for anyone who plays in tournaments frequently.
Didn't vacation status get ignored in a tournament at one time?
When you registered for a tournament there was a statement warning that the vacation flag would not be honored in your tournamnet games and also that a timeout win would be automatically awarded to your opponent if you timed out.
Is that no longer the case?
I personally would like to see vacation status exempt for these particular tournaments. The games will last a maximum of 42 days and most people will know whether they're going away within that time, so why join the tournament?
Alternatively don't call it "vacation", call it "bonus timebank" as that's how it's being used.

Not all users use it as 'extra time' Most users use it for vacation time. You're hardly the first person to get upset about vacation time based on what a single player is doing to you in a tournament game.
Remember, there are 360 days in a year. There is only 36 days of vacation. Vacation 'abusers' run out of vacation quicker than any of us will. I do hope you win the game.
P-
I'm in the same tournament as Woltato and Silent Knights, and the long vacation continues, even though the tournament is now decided (well deserved by the way, SK).
My attitude has turned from minor irritation to one of amusement as this player needlessly eats into his year's vacation allowance. I've still got seven days of timebank left against him and can easily extend both games into early February, which should stop him repeating such tactics this year at least.
And I agree that while his vacation flag may be within the rules, it's firmly against the spirit of both the competition and the site.
