Hello,
I am a new subscriber to this web site. I really like the site except for the vacation flag. I was in a 1 day/move game with no timebank playing perfct. I was winning the game and went on a short vacation. I set my vacation flag and asked not to claim a win while I was away. perfct claimed a win as soon as my time expired.
1) I will never play another 1day/move game again.
2) Since the web site condones this behavior, I am forced to claim a win for a timeout anytime it occurs.
Why does this site even have a vacation flag if it is acceptable behavior to claim the win? I think this is the weakest link in this site. The vacation flag should be removed from this site, it is misleading.

But, that's not the point! No you are not forced to claim a win for a timeout! Would you jump off a cliff just because someone else did? No, and the same should apply to Vacation Flags.
There are plenty of people on this site who do respect them and will wait for your return. Though if you or your opponent has gone on Vacation and hasn't left a Vacation message letting people know when you're coming back, then many people WILL claim a timeout. Everybody's different!
If you want them removed, head to the Site Ideas forum and post it in there!
Personally, I reckon the Flags are about honesty and fair play. People who claim timeouts as soon as they cana re usually the ones who fret about their stats and ratings (though most will deny it). People who respect the flags are usually the honest and honourable people who just enjoy playing Chess and respect their opponents.
