<-- right here. What the heck does that mean?

That's the total number of recommendations your posts in the forums have received. The "recommend" button that comes along with every post allows you to recommend posts that you think are worth others reading too. On the forums page, there's a link to a list of recommended posts. The more recommendations a post gets, the higher on that list it'll climb.
