Wings on both sides of the subs' stars

I have noticed that some subscribed members have small wings on both sides of their star, while others don't. Are they earned somehow?

I already searched for "wings" on google but didn't get an answer. I also took a look at the player tables but the wings seem to have nothing to do with the number of moves, rating or clan membership(s).

Players with wings are annual subscribers - those without were the first subscribers who paid a one off "life" membership.
