Here are a few small apps I can't live without:

Text 'inserter'. Absolutely essential if you repeatedly have to type the same thing.

I use AutoIt on a daily basis for windows automation. It's superb (AutoHotKey is a derivative of it).

Screengrab software I use is hardcopy, again which is superb.

Free photography website software I use is JAlbum.

Zip software I use is 7zip.

Can't stand 7zip, I use winrar, although I believe this is now unavailable for free use.

I use King Kong Capture for screen capture

VLC for media

Fraps for screen video recording

Filezilla for ftp

PowerISO for virtual drives

Peer Guardian 2 for IP blocking

Winrar uses 7zip as its engine.

Personally, I haven't seen 7zip unable to do anything that winzip can do, but I guess front end is personal preference.

Keepass is my password manager.

PDFCreator is my favourite, as it also implements a COM-Object, that can be used to automate PDFCreator and control it from VBA for example, so I can print PDFs straight from my VBA code in MSOffice etc.

For those of us who still use Windows XP, get yourself Launchy.
It lets you specify index locations so you can quickly type partial program names from your start menu or filenames of files you want to open, like the search function in Vista/7 lets you do.
Launchy just has more configuration options to let you decide which folders etc. get indexed and also lets you launch FireFox bookmarks.

What languages specifically do you use eclipse for? I had a look at the site, but it seems complicated and the documentation is frankly confusing.

Imagemagick (and another command line image editor - can't remember the name now) are my command line batch editing software of choice.

TeraCopy looks good. Any bugs that you've seen?

eclipse these days only for javascript, PHP, CSS, HTML and assorted web related work.
If you want to use it for any web work, get eclipse for PHP developers - it has all the basics a web dev needs, plus you can get plugins for it later if you need them, like SVN integration from the IDE itself.

TeraCopy works wonderful - I haven't seen any bugs yet.

Yes, I too refuse to use the most efficient, powerful and versatile free compression software out there because it refuses to shave its legs everyday.

Personally I think it looks OK, WinRAR used to look much worse, but I don't know what it looks like now since 7zip handles everything I throw at it...

Of course it used to look worse, I was using it before it even had a gui. Just... to say that you're not going to use COMPRESSION software only because it doesn't look nice... Christ almighty. I weep for humanity.

I remember using pkzip and a bunch of command line switches to span archive games off my buddy's PC over sets of 20+ floppies.

'twas a simpler time...
