Sex (from the Latin for "painful", sexus) is like a troll hunt, where the villagers (the men) must carry their pitchforks and brandish their torches as they make their way deep into the forest to bring the troll out of hiding. The troll will often appear about nine months thereafter. That is the most common method; some prefer to use rubber-covered pitchforks when troll-hunting (these are much less likely to rustle up any trolls). Still other methods involve clanking pitchforks against each other, polishing another's pitchfork with one's tongue or a moist rag, or going into deep wells to hunt for long brown snakes.
