There's been a lot of World Cup score predictions going on. Some good, some not so good. Let's put ourselves to the test.
By the end of Wednesday all the teams will have played once, giving everyone a chance to check out their form.
I propose a competition based on predicting the scores of the remaining group games after that point. That's 32 games, people.
Scoring is simple. You guess the score. If you get it exactly right, you get 3 points. If you don't get it right, but it reflects who wins/loses/draws, you get 1 point.
So take the England v Paraguay match, which ended England 1 Paraguay 0. If I'd predicted 1-0 to England, I'd have got 3 points. If I'd predicted any other England win (2-0, 3-1, etc.), I'd have got 1 point. If I'd predicted any draw or Paraguay win, I'd have got nothing.
I'll post a complete list of fixtures in the next thread; all you have to do copy and paste, replacing the x's with numbers.
Deadline for entries, I guess, would be one hour before the first matches start (around midday GMT on Thursday).

Originally posted by Freddie2006Couldn't get it on TV but listened on XM radio and watched real time via the World Cup website. They did not play well at all, but then I didn't know what to expect. However it did seem like I heard an announcer say that the USA was ranked fifth in the world. That couldn't have been right, could it?

Originally posted by DelmerI'd leave your predictions as they are. Most of them look pretty solid.

The world rankings are very odd because they reward teams that play lots of games against much lower-ranked teams.
