I couldn't resist playing around with the database of games from the 2000+ players games and made a 9 Mb zip file containing an opening book (rhp.ctg) and database (rhp2k.cbh). You need winzip to open the archives and the free chessbaselight/Fritz or Chessbase.

I used Varenka's raw pgn as source data. I couldn't be bothered with the 160 games one. It is interesting that the opening book made from the games has moves classed as ? in the professional opening books.
People at this level are also likely to have sharp attacking games arising from the King's pawn openings with many games settled before move 40.
Someone posted a suggestion on my blog http://z00tz00t.livejournal.com/2312.html which I could forward to the site admins. It should not be difficult to get an option to select the games of an individual other than oneself for download.
This is a good idea but I can't help thinking that the gamesexplorer feature is a sadly neglected resource as it still hasn't had any updates.
Even 6-monthly updates would be well worth it.
Tweaks to the site like pop-up info boxes are all very well but they don't improve your play & are a slightly worrying trend towards style over substance in my opinion.
I've never used the explorer once I learned it was not updated for a long time. The idea might be to make a chessgames.com style explorer but it needs to be regularly updated and to have relevant games. If the explorer is not a viable option seeing it has never made it past the beta stage, the admins can provide a pgn with raw data of all games for download.
