Hey, me again
So I quite satteled with either larsen or simply e4 on white side, and the sicilian playing the black pieces.
But there's this annoying D4 opening on the first move.
I learned the queen's gambit, the nimzon and the king indian, and I liked neither!
So yes, I was woundering
is there any "special" openings after d4, or any extremely rare line after the first QG or KID moves that I can use?
You know, anything that leads to unusuall things.

Thanks ahead.

well the QG, nimzo and KID make up a huge bulk of 1.d4 replies, but you might want to check out the benoni or grunfeld

There are many options possible. One option that players encounter less frequently is

1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 Nc6!

One wonderful thing about this option is that both moves by black develop into the centre so its almost guaranteed to be good because of that but its still less common than some of the other Queen pawn openings.

Dutch is one of the distinct replies to d4.

my friend, you must play either the Albin counter gambit, played by none other than the great Russian super Gm, Alexander Morozevich, in top tournaments with great success! or the Budapest gambit.

Albin counter gambit goes like this, 1.e4 d5, 2.c4 e5!

here is a Moro game to wet your appetite.

I think Botvinick often played 1....e6 to 1d4.With the idea that if white plays 2e4 he can have a French with 2....d5,or if white plays 2c4 he went for Dutch with 2....f5.

I really really likes the counter d4 d5 c4 e5 gambit looking into some variations of it.
Altouugh giving this pawn might be risky against an opponent who'll maintain his edvantage against you, it gives a whole bunch of lines where black leads the game.
I might go for that, thankas

I know a refutation to 1.D4 2.C4 openings, but I really want to keep it a secret

the gambit is awesome, for it disrupts whites development, he can never think of playing his knight to c3 its natural square, he cannot touch the d pawn with moves like e3 for he shall get into difficulties, all of blacks pieces are coming into the game very fast. the last thing a queens gambit player wants is for you to disrupt his development, he wants pressure in the centre and now we restrict him. as for the pawn, well its now doubled pawns on the e file, we have a pawn 'nail', of our own, which we can support easily, its not so easy for white!

Be careful against whom you play the albin. If your opponent is a Kings gambit player you may need to know the refutation to this line.

Offen wondered why in the Albin Counter Gambit.

1.d4 d5 2.c4 e5

White can play 3.e3 and steer the game into a French colours reversed a tempo up.

the albin is much more successful in blitz where most d4 players only have a general idea of how to deal with it. In CC, it could be tough to play that opening.

Tough would be an understatement at a certain rating where everyone uses at least databases, but didn't Morozevich bring some new life to that line?

OTB It's pretty hard to play against though... I admit to losing many quick ones against the Albin, it's really hard to play against if you don't know exactly how to play against it.
