Originally posted by hammster21I sincerely doubt it will drop much below 1650 ever again. I have one game in a drawn (maybe lost) position against a high 1300's player (seems his real strength is closer to 1700). Other than that though I am doing okay.
The higher it is.... the farther it will fall. Trust me. But congrats while it lasts.

BTW, wishing you luck...quite a paradox since chess is anything but luck 😉

whats an engine ?.. you sound a little defensive for some reason
Which is why I wouldn't want to teach myself through playing an engine; I think I'd (A) go bored or (B) start to get a very boring style.

Originally posted by RamnedMy rating hike is almost completely from games vs. 1700 players (though it is true my run from 1650 to where I am now was all from 1300's and stuff... I put up a bunch of invites saying I'm willing to play anyone (nice guy eh?). Bunch of lower lvls accepted and I beat them with my KG in 20 moves or less.. it was fun 😛. On the other hand, I am playing decently as of late... not missing too much tactically and I've never been a bad stratetician. The only thing that worries me is the transition into the endgame. I've found 1700-2000 lvl players are very good at taking an equal midgame and turning it into a winning endgame just because their king is one square better if you know what I mean. I have no clue how to 'practice' that... maybe I'll be stuck at the low 1700's for the rest of my life 😛.
