Here... Game 2508328
I recently played an opening which was 2... C6. I didn't realise that to even a below average player this would result in my loss. I also didn't realise there were NO benefits in playing 2... C6, as to a direction and purpose I had in the game.
Edit : C6

Well what was MY purpose in the game?

What do you mean your loss. You were black and you won.
That's what my first comment meant.
As for the pawn moves, Way Way to many. You had better things to do then keep making pawn moves.
What do you mean: Well what was MY purpose in the game? Explain.
Fine. You're right, 2 c3 is fine, but NOT just after you play 1 b3! The entire aim of playing b3 is to play Bb2, so what? You go off and close the long diagonal? Both moves are fine, they just conflict with one another.
Also; at the start you said c3 is a terrible move, that would lose to a sub-par opponent. NOW you say that it gave you an inevitable win? I'm confused.

To get a knight on line 3...
that's why you do as little pawn moves as possible in the opening. every non-developmental pawn move means you have one piece less in the battle.
