Why isn't this game drawn by 3 move repetition?

Game 3405044

I'm sure that this doesn't go against site rules in pointing out that this site doesn't support automatic draws in the light of repetition.

I'm not asking what to play. I'm asking for someone to clarify a rule. We had played another game where it was K+B vs K. It didn't auto draw the game. Why not?

which it should... i should go post that in site suggestions.

Indeed it should. Upon first reading the "claim draw" I was led to believe (by my own stupidity) that it would go to an admin to view the game.

It all depends on how you interpret TOS Rule 3b - "While a game is in progress you may not refer to chess engines, chess computers or be assisted by a third party."

I decided to play it safe.

One thing that does puzzle me.. I sent a draw offer after 4 or 5 repetitions. He declined. *shrugs

I had originally thought that, but I was instructed that even live face to face games they can call the TD and get a rule clarified. 🙂

It's still not clear to me. This isn't OTB, so your logic may not necessarily apply.

I understand your caution, but it is only assistance in the same way as giving advise on using a mouse to click on the move button as it would help in making moves.

😛

Informing players of site features like How to Castle or whatever shouldn't be banded in the same breath as using Fritz to analyse an in-progress game...

Well, his question was directly related to the game he's playing. He asked why that game wasn't a draw. Now if he'd just simply asked a general question about draws by repetition, that might have been a different issue. So, you see, it's not such a cut and dried issue.

after three move repetition by rule it is a draw. you are then able to click claim draw.

Not quite. You can click claim draw at any time. After a 3 move repetition, the site will actually award the draw (it will also award it after you click claim draw, if there is insufficient mating material or the 50 move rule applies).

Edit... you still need to press submit move.

I had to go back and verify the poster. Usually the one losing asks these types of questions. Oh well go figure.
