Chess newbie here and wondering a few things about Grandmaster matches. Having never seen one I am wondering:
1. Are the players allowed to take notes during the game or must it all get done in the brain? And if yes, do most Grandmasters keep notes?
2. Can a player stand up or walk around to see the board from a different POV?
3. What's the rule on touching a piece? Must it be played if touched?
That's about it. Thanks.

Yes, they may get up, watch other games, refill their tea (sometimes waiters assist), and use the loo.
If they touch a piece, they move it (or capture, as the case may be).

2. Yes, you can walk around. You can even look from your opponent's point of view. Talking, really is the big no no.
You shouldn't talk to your opponent (distraction). You also shouldn't talk to anyone else. It seems as though you are getting help (even if you are not and the person doesn't even play chess. 🙂 )
3. If you touch a piece and it has a legal move, you must move it.

great, that's exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks all (except ussr guy). The Fischer match sounds interesting.
