I must say I'm extremely disappointed with this thread. I thought you meant one of the RHP GMs was going to face Carlsen. 😞

Magnus joins here?

You can just imagine his first post.

"Hi I'm Magnus Carlsen."

and then....

"Cheat. How come you got so good when 30 years ago you were not even born?"

Perhaps RHP should organise a massive meet-up.
Everyone has to bring their own stones.

Yeah those guys who think a player who was a complete patzer can't jump up to a strong GM level in less than 2 years are complete morons now, aren't they... they're just FUNNY, that's what they are. FUNNY.

Funny? I think its even funnier that there is no evidence from the FIDE rating list of 1400/1500 to IM/GM in a year to 18 months. In case you have any examples from the FIDE rating list, feel free to p.m. them to me. I posted a FIDE statistics question and even though that is unrelated to RHP it was deleted for unknown reasons.

DELETED OR NOT THE FACTS/TRUTH REMAINS. Feel free to send an email to ChessBase and ask them as well for any statistical proof. FIDE chess/Elo rating systems have existed long before RHP.

Obviously my "RHP GM" claim is in jest. I don't believe (without evidence to the contrary) that players ranked just below FM level OTB would have difficulty dispatching any players on this site under FIDE rapid/standard conditions.

You are your few followers are turning every thread opened on this forum into a witch hunt. The chess only forum has become a joke, no useful chess thread has come since you started with the accusations, veiled or otherwise.

My personal opinion is that you should receive a forum ban at least, I cannot begin to imagine the work the forum moderators have to do in order to keep track of your rampage.

There is no evidence of nay correlation whatsoever between RHP ratings and real-life CC or OTB ratings. Almost no career chess players have joined this site, and if God-forbid they do, I'm sure you'll hunt them down as cheats as well.

No one on RHP is becoming a GM in two years, are you even aware of what a GM norm is (I wasn't, thanks Fat Lady for the info on that) ?! 2400 on RHP could mean anything from 1700 to 2800 OTB.

What is the point of your continuous slander of paying members on this site? I would enjoy a real chess thread about theory, openings, tactics, etc once is a while, but you have made it impossible. No strong player would ever want to post now.

I really hope you are put down.

Just asking. What witch hunt are you talking about? Where's the witch? No one has mentioned a particular player here, it was all everyday chess chat regarding if a patzer can reach GM strength in less than 2 years or not.

Or am I mistaken? is there really a player who was a complete patzer that went up to the top in less than 2 years? Is there any player that has much higher engine matchups than previous world correspondence chess champions?

Well, obviously there is no one like that on this site or they would be banned immediately, just like they ban and bash out warnings to people from the forum everyday.

So, no witch, no witch hunt. Everything is fine.

Bluster & waffle, E3xod. Several of us in here are experienced enough, strong enough & sufficiently well-tutored in the game to know when we are playing an engine-user - that's even before we run the games through an engine to check.

And that same group of players, me included, have played real GMs & real IMs in real life, OTB with real wins and real draws against them. So it isn't very hard to spot engine-style play, and then find it confirmed on further inspection. That's one great advantage of this site - it arms the community with the evidence by making available every player's games. Alas, the site admin often don't act when the community fingers the guilty.

Who is slandering who? Who is witch-hunting whom? There is no slander or witch-hunting going on. All I asked you and any other statisticians were statistical examples. If you do not know what a GM norm is then that is your problem not mine. You would not seem to know that GMs are not born overnight.

Is it your problem or mine if there are no patzer to IM/GM examples from the real world? There should be no doctoring/philosophising with statistics. The statistics are either there or there aren't there.

I'm had two examples from my OTB play of older teenagers going up a large number of rating points in a fairly short time.

I played Matt Slomski at the 2008 NYS Championship in September of that year. He was rated USCF 1452 at the time. Within a year, he was up to an 1873 and is now rated 1933.

I faced Lucas Knight at the 2009 NYS Open last May. He was a 1587 USCF. Within 6 months he had risen to a 1943 USCF with results that included a tie for 1st place in the U1600 at the World Open (which probably won him close to 10 grand).

So reasonably rapid rises in ratings OTB are possible though I don't know of anyone who went from a low rating to a GM norm in anything but a fairly long period of time.
