Hi Squelch.
1.e4 d5 is an Ok opening but all this fannying about the Queen is for mugs.
Leave the pawn on d5 and Pirc your Kingside. By then he he would have
protected the d-pawn with c4 and you can get the tactics going.
For your entertainment here is a league game I played OTB.
The Bishop trapping idea is very common in my games sometimes
it works, other times.....Game 5957973
(I could not make up mind - mate him or win the Bishop - in the end I did neither)
The following game is a study in pins.
Note in this postion;
24.fxe4 Bxd4 and then mate on g2.
Anoter motif in my games is sending out a Rook looking for
a minor piece to sac against.
Bishop and Knights are better than Rook in the first 20 moves.
You will enjoy this. I did.
Oh and please none of you come on pointing out defences from your cosy bedroom.
This is OTB play. Clock ticking, unclear positon and wide-eyed maniac attacking you.

Hi.
GP I don't really play the Scandinavian anymore.
I tried it with 3...Qd6 but found that most people just play the main line which I think gives White a solid plus. I even bought a book by Michael Melts on this variation.
The Latvian gambit suits my style of play more. I may lose a few but at least the it leads to fun middlegame positions rather than the dour ones I had playing the Scandinavian.

At what point in your playing chess do you start having the guts to sac both rooks where the continuation to mate or big material win is not clear?

There are a few "main lines" I don't particularly like.
One is Karpov's
1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Qxd5 3.Nc3 Qd6 4.d4 Nf6 5.Nf3 a6 6.Be3 Nc6 7.Qd2 Bg4 8.Ng5
which is hardly my idea of a fun Black opening position.

I cannot claim to have seen everything that was going to happen.
I just strive for piece activty. point pieces at the King and hope for the best.
That about sums up the strategy I use. 'Hope for the best strategy."
Just have to be alert and brave/crazy enough to go the whole way.
Sometimes it works as above - other times...Game 5958187.
You all get to see the brillinat ones. The miserable failures somehow
never get posted - must be a glich in the system.
