I like to hear what others think of whether (or not) to take the risky pawn on c6 after the following sequence of moves :-

1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Nf6 3. c4 c6(?!)

I do know that normally Black plays 3. e6 (which is the the Icelandic Gambit) and White can get away it with being a pawn up after surviving the storm BUT with 3... c6, it appears this is an avalanche if White takes it.

If White does NOT take the pawn, it transposes into the Panov-Botvinnik attack (Caro-Kann).

you should not take it. taking it gives you a weak backward pawn on open file + total lack of control of the valuable d4-square.
