I feel i must draw attention to this brilliant display from Procyk, who managed to secure a draw from the mighty PO in our group of the Alpha 6x6 3/33 tournament. My hat goes off to you Marijan, very impressive! 😀

My hat goes off to him. I've played ThePO and he utterly destroyed me twice. Although why take so long to agree to the draw in the final position? Isn't it absolutely dead?

Waiting to make sure she didn't make a mistake i guess. Even a draw looses 20 odd points off his rating.

The most ThePO can lose for a draw is 12 points. This is because K is 24 (2100-2399 rating) and points lost is given by K*(0.5-w) where w = win expectancy and 0 < w < 1.

Also a draw is hardly a victory (title of thread) is it?

Not loosing to a player who is 5-600 points higher rated than you is a victory in my opinion. I was only quoting a ruff guess at the amount he'd loose for a draw. 15 or 20, it's all give or take. For the PO 15 points is a lot. As one of the highest rated players it takes a long time to get that many points as everyone else is lower (normally much lower) so my point still stands that he'd rather win than draw. Just pop a glance at ironmans graph, he doesn't get anything for any of his wins any more.

It's rude to call draws, victories.
You can call it an accomplishment instead.

would rook a6 be an idea

try and get the knight to have to move

then the pawns can be pushed opening up lines for the rook which can retreat to first rank and try and take advantage of the new openings

seems an intersting one

congrats on a draw anyways, a great result
