Tried the queen exchange and he wasn't having any of it, it had been a very even game all the way through so I don't think he would have blundered.

Its the first time I've had a draw, I usually prefer to see it to the end, even if i lose. But I think in this case it was a fair descision.

He's only excepting games from 1800 plus players now, so looks like i'm going to wait awhile for a rematch....

A tricky position. I don't know who is winning, but if I was Black I would be scared of that pawn on d5. However I feel that Black might well be able to force mate.

I used to draw far too many games. In the end I decided that I wouldn't offer any more draws and that I would only accept draws if I thought I was losing. It did wonders for my game as I got to a lot more endgames, which is nowadays the strongest part of my game. If you are offered a draw just try playing on for a few more moves. Turning down a draw can gain you a psycological advantage!

I've just remembered some better advice about draw offers - If your opponent offers you a draw try and work out why he thinks he is losing.
Beautiful advice, I think Fischer would be proud.

Unfortunately a quick Google search suggests it was invented by my least favourite British player, Nigel Short.
