By the way, I seem to remember Tlai pretending he spoke Spanish by using an electronic translation site in his forum posts. So there certainly is some precedent for computer-assisted deception there.

I think it must be common site knowlege by now. I havent sent any feedback to russ about JW, only because im sure a lot of other people have and theres no point in repeating it.

I started a game aganst J. woodley, he accepted my invitation. 🙂

About cheating: everybody here can use a programme, isn't it? I supose some people do it. I use books in openings.

I think you'd better check the site rules, but in general correspondence chess rules apply here; it's OK to look up an opening or to consult a database for similar positions, but not to use a chess engine during play.

However, it is no way to know about it, nor to prevent it. I personaly don't wory about it, a game is a game. I like to see my ow ...[text shortened]... e? If somebody is proud on winings of his/her programme, well, strange, but it is not my problem. .)

You know, I gotta say. I don't have enough data pertaining to woodley. But based on my own experience playing tlai1992, I don't necessarily think he's a computer.

Here's a game ended on (and substantially played on) October 15. If he's playing with a program, that program doesn't have an opening database, because he really blew the white side of the benoni and resigned facing the impending loss of a rook. Game 730825

Here's one that ended on September 18. I'm not sure when it was started. I blew tlai away with fairly inaccurate play. He resigned after I saced a bish for a massive attack: I could have at least forced a draw after ... bxa6 Qxa6+, and probably a win after that plus ... Kb8 b5 -- and if declining the sac was correct, his engine should have told him so. Game 687348

Based on those two, recent games, which exhibited weak calculation, I don't see how he was using an engine. Does anyone differ? I suppose he could be using an engine only intermittently.

its easy to see if they are cheating just take a look at one of their suspicious games and then see what fritz would do. Anyway its just to obvious in this case .

Well,it's clear now that it wasn't the usual tlai to play his games, for his own admission.

i dont think this creates any proof about cheating/ not cheating. in my opinion first game has an opening which even the most incompetant wouldnt play, especially with how the opposition was responding to it. for me it is obvious that tlai1992 was trying to cover his tracks by lose some games atrociously so that he didnt look to conspicuous??

todays question, and i would be happy for ppl to help out with answers.

i received a clan challenge today from a well known rhp personality. i wanted to change one of the players so he could play the well known personality.

the well known personality (his secong initial is W) messaged me and accused me of being unfair.

so do i;
(a) apologise forthwith and agree to the original challenge
(b) politely suggest its my decision
(c) tell that well known personality he has a cheek acussing me of unfairness when that well known personality is synomous with cheating
(d) let the whole rhp community know what this geezer is up to?

answers please.
