But the positions in which the bishop pair are a disadvantage vs. other combinations are in the minority hence the bishop pair is generally seen as an advantage as you can normally safely steer towards a beneficial endgame.

A very interesting strategy adopted by JW; a Knight sac with no compensation on move 15, followed by a resignation one move later! Certainly unorthodox; perhaps he could explain it to us. Might it have something to do with Tlai joining JW's clan in time for the clan leagues?

Yes,any 1600 player would never played this way and then resignate against a (now) 1250 but hey,they are in the same clan now and the game must have been fixed.

All I can gather here is that they can see so far ahead into the game, past even the ability of you, no1marauder, or myself, that they recognized a lost position idmediately. I know I'm not that good, it would have taken me many more moves before I realized I was done.
