Akizy is catching up with Ironman he now has 2401 while ironman has 2452. I think if the ratings stay stagnate in the top ten Akizy will eventually catch up to him without alot of effort. What do you guys think?

ironman doesn't seem to be winning any significant games....therefore his rating isn't rising at all whereas akizy is beating top 20 players regularly.

True so has Ironman decided to give up the throne as best player on this site? Are there tournaments here that involve the top 10 players in them? Such as the Mtel Masters tournament in real life?

Akizy is in fact one of the two people to ever defeat IronMan31 on this site. I don't know their record against eachother though.

True he may be playing these guys over and over again but look at his rating he is on a slow decline it may go back up but that wont be a huge jump he reached like 2462 and after that he went on a slow decline. Akizy is slowly catching up. He is just 50 points or so behind him.

Akizy has a good chance of catching him.

I just checked their previous games, and Akizy is ahead in their games. They have played two against eachother, one Akizy won, and the other a draw. Akizy may very well be the best player on the site.

There have been only 2 games between them, and Akizy has won 1 and drew the other. What you fail to understand is the rating system for the top players. Ironman doesn't any or just a percent of a point by beating normal players. In order for him to gain points, he has to beat players rated in the top ten for his rating to go up.

Ok he is playing the top ten over and over I get that he gets points from beating them I get that to but, the point remains Akizy plays the top ten also and while Ironmans rating is staying the same or is on the slow decline that I see Akizys is slowly catching up with his game.

Once Akizy gets his rating around Ironman, ( if he ever does) than he will have the same rating issue. I bet he has experienced it allready

Just to look at statistics, disregarding who played who and who beat who, Ironman is the best player on the site. Four times as many games and 1 less loss. Akizy did beat Ironman but Ironman hasn't lost players who beat Akizy. Either way, they both are terrific players - no doubt.. ...hardly credible coming from someone who's chess skill is rather lacking!! (but I'm sure I'm right to say they're great palyers)
