AKizy just lost, but he's still #1 on the site, I thought that if weyerstrass won he'd be the #1 player, does anybody know why?

Originally posted by ih8sensI've just put it through Crafty, which assesses the final position at +0.72 at 18 ply (150 seconds). I don't think an engine assessment is enormously helpful with this game, Crafty was having real problems with it (at least it was taking a noticeable amount of time to make any assessment at all at some points). The opening that Akizy chose is probably not the best; according to my database it's been tryed 3 times before with the results at 2.5 - 0.5. The stem game was a correspondence game from 1980 - Sloth vs Abramov - and Akizy deviated on move 11. Abramov played 11. ... h5, which is probably more consistent with the gambit than putting pressure on the queenside, after Akizy won back the pawn the assessment jumped to +1.0 after Crafty had been assessing it as more or less level before then. Having said that the central passed pawn could have been dangerous if the kingside collapse had been prevented. Where Crafty did point out a probable improvement was 31. ... Ke8 which stops white from getting the f-pawn.
has anyone run this game through fritz or some other engine? I'm curious to see where Akizy went wrong.

I'm not sure but I think Akizy defeated some loser who was using some pretty strong engine a while back.
