Sir- You have made many comments here on Red Hot Pawn. If I may suggest, your comments, no matter how abrasive, would have a great deal more crediblity if you could find it in your busy schedule to play a few games against some of Red Hot Pawn's top players. You claim to be a very strong player. If so, why do you not compete? I'm sure 10-15 games a year would not be too great a burden for you. The fact that you refuse to compete against anyone here casts severe doubt on your ability to give any chess advise at all. I'm inclined to give you the benifit of the doubt at this point (and there is PLENTY of doubt). I've played in simulteous exibitions against 2 Grandmasters in the past 15 years (Judit Polgar and Anatoly Karpov). I very much doubt you are as strong as either of these two. If these GM's don't mind competing against the general population, why won't you??😏
He did play a game on another site. Unfortunately it disintegrated into bickering and squabbling when he didn't move for ages, then made a bad move and argued that he only did the bad move because he'd been pressured into moving whilst on holiday...so the result didn't count etc etc. etc...you get the picture.
BILL718, I don't play legitimate chess anymore, I only play computer aided chess. I'm quite sure I'd be banned if I used a computer to make my moves for me.
Mahout is partially correct. At the other site, there were two versions of the same game going on 1) The public version, with my oscar winning performance as the sore loser pressured into resigning by the "evil dictator". 2) The private version that only 2 people knew about that would end without a clear victor.
I'm not sure if this site even offers vote chess games or if I would be allowed to "cheat" against you all. Frankly, I'm not really interested in starting a several month's long chess game.
I compared correspondence chess to running a marathon over the course of 26 days, 1 mile each day. IT AINT LEGITIMATE. Real chess is not a 2 month endeavor, nor is it a 3 minute wrist workout.
What would anyone gain here by watching me use a chess program to play chess? Nothing. It would NOT increase my legitimacy as a chess authority one iota. I am bored with chess, much as my idol Bobby Fischer was. I now only talk about it.
Originally posted by cheater1I'm not sure I completely understand why you do not play regular chess; it seems that if you are bored with chess, you should not be too interested in discussing it. As for computer aided chess, I hardly see the fun in that, because I doubt that you could really suggest moves that a computer would not find, so it is not really computer aided chess as it is you challenging the public to play your computer; you are not even playing, just acting as a physical (ok, well in this case electronic) hand on the computer's behalf. I don't see what sort of fun you would get out of "cheating" against people at RHP, or what fun you would even get out of "computer aided" chess at all.

Originally posted by cheater1What I don't understand is why you feel the need to "big up" your past successes. Advice and discussion is not dependent on who gives it, meerly on it's genuine content. I used to have a young lecturer who kept on getting confused when he presented proofs, and he would really struggle to rectify a proof when it went wrong, or to follow someone elses ideas on how to save it. Often, he would give out advice to do with our assessments which was just plain wrong. However, he is a genius, and his research is first-rate. Conversely, good advice can come from those who know little.
...It would NOT increase my legitimacy as a chess authority one iota...
Thus, my question is this: why do you talk so much about you being the "world's strongest internet chess player", especially when you are unwilling to defend this claim. Because, in this context (of discussion), it doesn't matter.
Curiously, about 5-10 years ago I remember hearing about, I believe, an IM who thought he had played Bobby Fischer on-line. Unfortunately, I'm unable to find any articles about this.

Originally posted by JakalI played both in 50 board symul exibitions. Karpov in the late 80's, and Ms. Polgar in about 99 in Seattle. I was beaten badly in both of games course, but it was quite an honor. I only brought up this subject to point out that if Cheater1 wants people to listen to him, he should prove his playing strength like the Masters do, instead of just talking about it.😏
