Does anyone know of any software that would allow me to import positions and then mark them up showing such things as controlled squares, pins, skewers, forks, etc? I have seen software that does the mark-up for you (Chessmaster will display red arrows to attacked squares and such) but I haven’t found anything that would let me do the mark-up. It would be really groovy if the software could also evaluate the mark-up, checking to see if the things I have marked are really pins, forks, etc.

I hope you arnt using chessmaster or other such games/engines during your games here.. as i know some people do.. in long run you arnt learning how to play.. just learning how to cheat.. chessmaster has some very good tutorials watch them and learn.. dont use it to cheat.. there is a prog called "bookup" which will help you study games http://www.bookup.com/

CenterNut,

I agree completely, using software during is a disservice to both players. It cheats your opponent and you. I only use software following games. The reason I was hoping that I could find software that checks my analysis is so that my post-game study could be more complete.

run fritz on infinite analysis and enter your moves which you think are better and see what it thinks about them.
