No it's not. A piece is an easily winning advantage. And resigning is good chess ettiquite, not bad. If I were his opponent, I certainly wouldn't want to play for another 30 moves to trade pieces into a winning endgame. There's no more interesting play left in the game.

Quite. Given my opponent's rating, it would have been pointless.

It was a bad day for "at work" blunders - see also

Game 1450656

(White move 21. No comments, please, since the game is in progress.)

If it's any excuse at all it was a big day at work and my mind really was elsewhere.

Piece down games can be great fun. You have to be more agressive and take more risks, while also being rock solid defensively. Some of my favourite games are ones where I went something down and came back to win. So I'd never expect someone to resign, or ask me to resign in a piece down game. I know that's not what you are saying, but just thought I'd weigh in with an opinion on the topic in general.

Game 1428837 I like this one cos its the last game I finished 🙂

Please don't tell me you guys are nuts enough to play chess at work or school? Chess isn't like solitaire to pass time beteewn shifts/classes and remove stress, you actually have to work at it, it's like work, it's just as hard, and if you do school/work and chess simultaneously, sheesh, you will fail at both and your lives will stink. I know it's addictive, but for the sake of your life, finances, marriage, girlfriend, sex, children, family, etc, do not play chess at work! Maybe we should create a chessoholics anonymous to stop this?

Perhaps the media forced them to do it. There's something suggesting that idea built right into this site, yet I can't quite put my finger on it. Chess at work? What a dumb idea. 😉

I will do anything for the sake of my sex, but will not playing chess at work really help?

chessatwork seems to be a dumb name for a covert chess website. Wouldn't it have been better named workingmyassoffatwork.com or puttingintheovertimeatwork.com???

What you are saying is brainless. A knight is all you lose and you give the game?? Play me, that should be an easy win for me. No chance at all of getting an equal or better piece later????? Play checkers, sonny. Sincerely, Trains44
