Just finished this one (and it earned me another 2 pts). 😏
I know I can win the piece back by snagging the a1 Rook but
then my Knight is out of play.
I played for the trap hoping he would not see the mate in one.
(the riisky bit is I have 2 mate's in one for him to miss 12...Ne2 & 12...Ne6).
But as I figured he only saw Nxc2+ going for the Rook. and his
Knight on e5 threatens it's own fork on f7. So 12.Nxe5 was good bait.

'I played for the trap hoping he would not see the mate in one.'
This is Chess thinking at it's highest level.
(To be honest I could not resist setting the trap. )
How's about a draw you don't see everyday?
This is from a 1-minute game at ICC. My opponent was rated 2100, but time trouble had set in.
The game continued
1.d8=Q Ng3+ 2.Kg1 ??
2. ... Be3+ ! 3.Kh2 Nf1+ 4.Kh2 Ng3+ and drawn by repetition.
Rather than take it hard, my opponent was a really nice sport. He was in awe of the trap and actually thanked me for showing him a new pattern. I of course said I really just got very lucky.
Edit* 2.Kh2! and the trap fails. 2.Kh2 Ne2+ 3.g3! gives white "luft" on g2.
Originally posted by greenpawn34Time trouble sets in when the ICC Dasher lady's voice tells me !!! It used to be set at 20 seconds or so. I'd here "time warning" or whatever and start sacking pieces like no tomorrow. Then, I'd look up and be out of material with 16 seconds left on the clock. 🙁 Needless to say, I went into settings and had to reprogram the nagging witch. Now, she only warns me with 5 seconds left.
That B & N drawing trick has pulled my bum out of the fire a few times.
I like this bit:
"This is from a 1-minute game at ICC. My opponent was rated 2100,
but time trouble had set i. "
.......but time trouble had set in.
The moment you start both of you are in time trouble. 🙂
To me, 5 seconds is time trouble in lightning.

check post no. 25. This was a mate I pulled off in a 15 min game. I wish I had a score card for it(but it was just a casual game).
I apologize, I would have just posted a board from here. But, I don't have the pgn and I don't know what a fen is.

Looks like a sneaky one.
early in the endgame I won a piece. I actually saw that I could force a trade of all the pawns except that rook pawn (which allowed me to trap the king in the corner) Then the hard part was preventing the knight from helping in the defense. Probably my best game I have played.
