    Black To Move

I only include the whole game because it is a Latvian (a Greenpawn favorite).

By the way, I am loving my new ICC account. I beat IM Shirazi and GM Dlugy at 1-Minute today (only played each one once)!!!

It's still the best move in the position and (maybe) not easy to find. 🙂 White does in fact keep a slight edge after the whole thing. I just thought it was nice looking.

Are you a professional chess player? If not, maybe you should be. It's written here that he was once number one in the world in...BLITZ!

That's the one. I couldn't believe it at first either. hehe

He was World Junior Champion too !!! I was only 3 at the time though, so I had a big age advantage.

I practice and play a lot, but I don't get to any live tournaments. I live too far away from other chessplayers. 🙁

It's 1 0 and full of mistakes here and there, but here's the game.

I got up at 4:30 AM and started playing. I had been playing for hours nonstop before this game. All in all, I had an ok session. I went down 100 points then back up. I didn't quite break even, but I got some nice scalps. I also drew a WGM on there. The Shirazi game isn't as nice. I blundered a piece and had to win on time. I just loved it because I was remembering the scene with Shirazi from Searching For Bobby Fischer while I was playing him. hehe

getting in 63 moves in one minute and mating dlugy. wow. 🙂 I suppose you went the end on premove, but you still wrapped it up quite efficiently. nice technique!

Since the Queen is beaten of the field it's for Greenpawn who likes Queen sacrifices (rook sac's also, but one can't have everything).

What do you mean one for greenpawn?

You blunder your Queen - fluke it back and then show me an ending. 😕

I want unsound attacks with unsound sacs and nifty mates.

Here is the end of one of mine from a 4/0 game played a few
days ago. I'm Black and have just played 1...Qd7+.

    2.g4

As you can see I sacced a few things to makes things messy.
Too much I'm thinking but if there is a mate on then I'll find it.

So first comes the easy to see tricks.
2....Qf7 threatens Rf3+ winning the Queen.
    3...Bf5 threatens Rh2 mate,
Then I saw the the Rh2 sac idea so 4....g5! cover the flight square.

(The art to mating Kings is to cover the flight squares first.)

Then wait for the 'relax I'm winning 5.b6. blunder' and Bingo!
(Though looking at again White is in a pickle after 4...g5!).

I have the whole game saved on a hard drive in a net cafe,
I'll see if I can get it - I can remember the end but not all my
slightly dodgy moves leading to it.

Yup Qd3 looks OK instead of b6

(the move numbers seem all to pot because White is making
g4 the first move - wish they would fix that bug).

Good it's unsound so fits perfectly with the 'one for greenpawn' criteria.

(Rh2+ instead of g5 looks best).

It all looks pretty tricky to me, as Qd3 h5 goes on being tricky (Black then has no definite threat but White is more or less paralysed too).

Rh2+ first is tricky too, where does that go, tricky endgame too, I suppose, or perhaps I am missing the knockout punch, Qxg5 seems to save White...

No the Rook on h2 hangs so the B+Q will be plenty to tame the Rook + pawns
