Game 1141727

Just wondering if I made some genious play, or he just resigned for no reason.

not particularily genius - he probably thought that he couldnt save himself from the fork (which is wrong, he can save himself with Nxc5)
or he had some personal reasons.

edit: he could have lost to this fork, but then you would have to play 9. ...Nxf3+ 10. Qxf3 Bxe3 11. Qxe3 b5.

Well, they may have thought they were about to lose a piece since you forked the bishop and knight. But lastpawnstanding doesn't lose a piece because he could've taken your bishop. And even if he did lose a piece, it may have been premature for a resignation. I've played against people near my rating that don't resign when they're a full rook down.

Kinda offtopic---I'm just pretty proud of this..

While I'm not one to hang on until the bitter end:

If I go down a piece...I try my hardest to at least earn a draw...

Example: Game 1096731 I WAS fairly happy with my position, until I blundered away my knight on move 23 -- I don't know what I was thinking -- I then took the time to try to find a draw; since evening it up didn't seem possible... I found a particularly ugly/beautiful solution. 🙂

Hi coconut! I remember the game we played recently - great game - let me know if you want another.

No idea why your opponent resigned, by the way. Especially as it was a tournament game.

Why don't you ask lastpawnstanding?
