I often play my palm pilot and a chess program pumps out this black
response. It stumps me everytime. The opening begins as follows:
1. e4 c6 2. Nc3 d5
There are variations but I am not comfortable with taking d5 with the
e pawn this is just a way to allow black to gain control of the center.
Any thoughts are welcome to include book recommendations.

Just to mess with I recommend the Mieses Gambit which is 3.Be3!?

This gives up the e pawn and then you play Nd2 and set up for f3
which will roll sort of like a Blackmar Diemer Gambit...lots of fun!!

First of instead of Nc3 play d4 and when it responds d5 play e5, Nc3,
of even f3 !

taking on d5 is not recommended, I agree.
Play 3. d4 (to come back to the variation Tony refers to), or 3. Nf3
(expect Bg4, 4. h3).

I started with the other guy,but you have settings too low.
Let me know if you are not all talk.

I set them back down due to you playing Gil...I will wait until after you
guys finish.

As for me being all talk...I think my record proves quite the opposite.

You talk the big talk, but when it comes down to playing moves, all you
guys, want is to avoid a winner.
When i get there,I make this promise: i will not exclude anyone.

Dave doesn't avoid playing people of lower rank, he just beats
them. ;-) I'm learning a lot, so I enjoy his thrashings immensely.
