Are there any 1.e4 players left?

You know, in the last ~40 games I've started as black, all bar three have been 1.d4, with one being the Grob and the other two being the English.

Also, I always play 1.e4 and almost everyone (~90😵 replies with the sicilian. Even the non-sicilian players tend to go for strange replys rather than 1...e5 (Scandinavian's very popular for some reason).

Has the King's pawn opening actually been killed off? Did I miss a memo in which it was stated that no-one was to use it? Has the fear of the Sicilian rendered 1.e4 as a non-option in everyone's eyes but my own? I mean, that would appear to be a clear link - in all my tournament games, people who play 1.d4 also play the Sicilian. Are people going for the Queen's pawn game purely because the sicilian is that strong?

Should I give in and join the massed ranks of the Queen's Pawn/Sicilian openers?

I always play e4 and answer with e5. My favourite as white is the ruy=D

1.e4!!... best by test... to heck with the rest! 🙂

I find at my level ppl do tend to play 1..e5, to which of course the only reply is 2.f4 😀
If they do play the sicilian I dont tend to have any trouble.
With black, I only ever play e5 if I cant be bothered to be creative.
Indian defences all the way woooo!

i play 1 d4, and if given the chance will play e4 next move to start classical opening, but normaly end up playing london system, i seen alot of people playing the french defense for black.. I think they're fashion victims 😉

I usually play e4, but then I sometimes play d4 or nf3 on first move. I get bored playing the same thing. I like to see new arrangements. as black i play scandinavian or sicilian or classical queen's gambit. I'm always thinking of changing. I have trouble with people who say, "I always play..." Don't they getbored?

I play 1.e4 and right now most of my games started with 1.e4... I used to play the Petroff in response but have been toying with the Sicilian.

My current main openings are 1. nf3 or c4 and 2... d6 or c6. I've been shying away from d6 though, as the people I play with are starting to beet me when I play it.
