Here is the first in an occasional series of games where a strong player plays a real stinker.
    Game 3429241

Perhaps ChaosChild was toying with sunshine100. They are both from South Africa, so maybe they know each other (it's a pretty small country, isn't it? Probably only a couple of streets).

ChaosChild missed a mate in one on move 5, a mate in three on move 22 and blundered a piece almost every move before and after that.

I have never seen such a shambolic performance on this site by a 2000+ player!

A player rated nearly 2400 loses the plot against a 1250.
    Game 2792075

Dare I say 3...a6 and 4...h6? seem like rather overly prophylactic early moves, but they do set-up a thrilling tactical finale!

    Yes, that's true.
Also, the 2400 may just have had a bad hair day.

2400 doesn't mean he is not bad. He could be bad twice ! for being bad chess player and for being bad.

perhaps the title of this thread should be 'bad games by highly rated players'?

Well perhaps not exactly like earlier years

I want to elaborate that I think this thread is in no way meant to be a series of accusations. It is more a learning tool to show how anyone can make mistakes but more importantly it demonstrates how anyone can be 2000+ rated if they want it badly enough.

In that sense this is the ultimate inspirational thread.
I hope the Forum Mods leave this thread well & truly alone.

yes i must echo these words, twice within this week i have refused challenges from players rated 2000+ because i assumed it would be like a cat playing with a little biddy mouse, or in the words of Dylan, shooting tin cans with a sawn off shotgun, definitely inspirational - thanks so much -regards Robbie.

Not sure how anyone can see this as inspirational. This is a joke game, white was toying with black.Probably teaching black, i'm sure the white was sending messages to black explaining the position.A player 1300+ could not make such blunders.

It's strange how these educational games always are among the first 40 games the 'teacher' plays and after achieving his 2000+ rating he simply doesn't want to teach anymore.
