Especially the increasing amount of people who appear not to know algebraic notation. It is a key part of chess and is one of the first things you should learn. Sheesh.

Do you want to know the thing that pi$$es me right off??? The fact that you can't seem to post in the bit that says post not previous post. When you press reply and quote type in the top bit! Haven't you noticed that your posts appear empty?

hey, i need an opinion, if you know you are going to lose, is it best to resign and stop wasting time or go for the draw. this isn't at-your-throat chess like in a tournament, of course

Resign. Your chances of a draw are slim, and since you can only play 6 games at a time, you should spend your time learning something, and having more fun in a game it's possible to get a result in.

But what does he do when he does get to a winning endgame for himself...he doesn't know how to exploit it? Obviously if you have a king vs queen and rook and a couple of pawns and pieces then resign but if its not clear cut then watch the techniques and pick up ideas. On the other hand, ark is rated 700 points or so higher than me so you could always listen to him 🙂

As for freddie's comment, he's also right. It depends on the strength of your opponent. If you don't think he or she could win that endgame, then don't resign.

Only because Xanthos somewhere in forums said it has a 100% winning rate out of the grand total of two games.........
No one will ever start with 1.a4.......
Sheesh, don't take it literally. Of course I know that a4 is not good. I was just pointing it out because it is of interest to a chess community to know a wierd fact like that.
