these results don't say very much, but I noticed ruffian allways does relatively well in blitz

Still meaningful - just less so than they would be if there were more games played with longer time limits.

it seems somewhat illogical to assume that Fritz 7 is Stronger than the more up-to-date engine fritz 8.

No typos. One event does not reveal which engive is stronger. But, Fritz 7 has outperformed Fritz 8 over many similar events. Over 6000 engine-engine matches have been logged on my computers. Fritz 7 has played 163 of these, and Fritz 8 has played 164, including 6 match-ups between the two. Fritz 7 has a +2 score in these six games, and a slightly better rating over the 160+. Even so, I would not make the claim that the older version is "stronger," but it seems to have a slight edge in blitz against other engines.
