Game 3203650
This the best game I was involved so far here on RHP! I didn't blunder as I usually do and i planned a lot from move 16. I'm happy that I won this one but even without the win I woul be happy with this game. 😀

Can someone please tell me their thoughts on this one.

not bad play. i wouldn't lock my pawn up on e5 it gave white an outpost on d6. but overall very well played for your level. the sicilian rocks!

Thanks! My openings suck so much... I think I have a decent endgame and middlegame, but usually i lose my games on my opening. But now I'll analyze more my moves and think a lot harder. This is the way chess is really enjoyable!

Edit: Thanks for deeploser too!

if your opening is horrible and your middlegame and endgame are decent you will do fairly well at a lower level. i have been teaching friends and helping them get better they were all around 1250 and 1300. i helped them out with openings and some other few things and they went from 1300 to a high 1400. some even 1500. sometimes people can get to 1400 but around 1500 and 1600 players will start to trash you just because you played the opening wrong. try to at least learn some opening moves that way you can at least be even in the middle game. best of luck.

That's right! As white i'm trying to learn the English and as black the Sicilian. Now i don't have that much time to really study chess but I've joined an OTB club recently and I hope to improve my opening.
I'm relearning to play chess after a 10/12 years hiatus and I'm still very rusty and patzer prone. But I think I'll improve and have more good games in the future.

just sit back and watch some of the top players at your club go at it and watch how they open up. the opening is a fight for the center of the board and there are many ways to do it. watch the sicilian players and how they manuver their knights and bihsops.

GREAT GAME!!!
...
until move 2
2. Nc3 and then 3. g3 throws Sicilian players way off their game...
learn it.
use it.
master it.
succeed after 1. ... c5 with it...

nothing wrong with e5. many indian defenses use this same blocking technique in preperation for an eventual f5! great game

In the King's Indian the c-pawn isn't usually on c5 (and if it is the e-pawn isn't on e5), so there is no outpost on d6. Having said that pushing the e pawn to e5 like that is pretty standard in closed Sicilians, as the outpost doesn't normally cause too many problems. I'd normally try to push the f5 pawn too, but it's not the only way to play it and what happenned in the game made reasonable sense.

I think you played the opening pretty well. Whites play was a bit confused, the placement of the white bishop was highly suspect, i think you did a good job of making it into an aweful piece. White lost a lot of time as a result, making things even worse by capturing your Queen on d1 with the rook instead of the bishop (missing an ideal opportunity to bring this piece into the game with a tempo!)

I was impressed with the finish as well, the final position is a work of art. (Though white did cry out to be mated after a4??) 🙂

Thanks! 😏
Apart from the not so wise moves with the bishop that was a bad choice for her. But i think she was thinking about pushing the a-pawn towards promotion...
Anyway I think that the game was decided there even though at that point white didn't have a really active piece and i was ready to do one hell of pawn slaughter!
I really enjoyed this game and thanks to all of you for the feedback
