Not any move is a win. g6 seems to be the key move to avoid a draw, either as the next move or after a3

I disagree with you on that one. I think you didn't choose the king's best path...

It's possible. What would you suggest? Also see ilywrin's solution which makes any further discussion a bit obsolete.

Thanks for all the replies and other solutions...

and i did thought about the other solution. But mine is a little bit more stretched and takes a lot more time and effort and depends on how white moves, but it seems to me that black still has the win. But i guess that i can explain better on the board because there's a lot of variations...

But the king should start with c4.

No. 1...h6 draws. Every king move except Ka3 wins, as does g6 and a3. 1...a3 is not only the first move I looked at, it is the quickest and easiest win.

After 1...a3 2.Kf7, 2...g6 is best, but a2, Kc5, and Kc4 all win.

h6 draws?! Only if black doesn't know how to move. He has plenty of time and space. But how do you see a draw given best play by both players?

1...h6 2.g6 a3 3.Kf7 a2 4.Kxg7 a=Q+ 5.Kh7 qa2 6. Kh6 qg8 7. ...
And if 1...h6 2.g6 a3 3.Kf7 a2 4.Kxg7 a=Q+ 5.Kh7 qa2 6. Kg8 or h8 qa8+ and the just go checking the king diagonaly and getting closer...
I think that does it... Doesn't it?

Do you still need some explanation, or are you satisfied?

Satisfied! I had to see it for myself. Now i understand why it is a draw.
Hope i didn't bother trying to understand something for myself... Geez!!!

Good enough, then. I found the post with two edits entertaining, and would have liked to see the lines each time you changed your views. 😉
