This should amuse people like greenpawn.

Thinking process: Yes! I finally get to play a smothered mate!

Oh... wait... that's not a rook, is it?

Resign.

Pity, seems you could have gotten quite a formidable position with Rf1 instead of Qg8+.

Superb. Going to use that game on next column.

Reminds me of time I played Elaine Rutherford (2100 something)
In an allegro game.

I had a bishop on f1 - something like this.

I worked out a nice 4-5 move combination attacking her 0-0-0
position which culminated in Rf1-a1+

It was at this moment (Rf1-a1+) that I realised I had a Bishop on f1
and not a Rook.

Not really, as you mentioned it for move 21 whereas he commented on move 23.

You are right. It did amuse old greenpawn.

I don't think blitz lowers IQ points at all. In "blitz" games people don't make perfect moves and mistakes are very prevalent and pointing out a blunder towards the end of a game is absurd. You have not stated how much time is left which is a HUGE factor in blitz chess!

Oh, come on. You don't really think he was serious about the title of the thread, do you? He was just being funny. πŸ˜€

I think so too, however, there is an element of truth in it.

Too much blitz gives you loads of bad habits for real OTB play.
Moving too fast coupled with scant and shody analysis.

Blitz does have benefit though. Blitz is good when exploring new openings to try new moves and see what positions you like and what positions you do not like. Same goes for move variations.
