    Hi Brian.

I have hardly any RHP set piece games so the replay slipped through the net.

Every game has a tale, I can only say what I see in front of me.
Thought it was odd but very plausible.

Black did not play Qxf7 because he has the threat of Qc6+ and mate.
So he sent Rxf7 expecting Rxf7 when Qc6+ does indeed mate.
    Then he notices Re8 mate.......

Thought you had missed Re8 mate and resigned.
Chess is littered with players resigning in won postitions.

Very gracious of you to offer to play the game from where the blunder happened.

Have to be honest say it's something I would never offer to do.

If I swindled a guy and he wanted to take back moves to the position
just before he blundered then I would agree.
Provided we take the moves right back to move 1.

It's not grade chasing or having a sinister killer instinct. Quite the reverse.

A game was played, a player blundered, a player lost. It happens.
    Forget it, have another game.

I'm not to sure if the player who lost gets any satisfaction in winning
from the position where he blundered previously and lost.
I don't know, never done it.

However sounds like there were other factors invovled, better to lose
a game than lose a friend and it looks like both are enjoying your chess.

Each to his own, it's what makes the world go around. 😉
