I have analyzed this opening very much any computer engine immediately gives a disadvantage of -.8 for white but after 20 moves this disadvantage eases to 0 and the end game turns out to be strong for white.

It's a chess myth that this happened in a game (often credited to Alapin v Tarrasch)
The story goes after 2...Qxd3 White played Bc3!!
He automatically moved the Bishop instead of the Knight.
Illegal move so according to the rules of the period he had to move his King.
3.Ke2 Qe4 mate.
Tarrasch did beat Alapin in 6 moves after an incredible piece of chess blindness.
Tarrasch - Alapin, Germany 1889
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Nxe5 d6 4. Nf3 Nxe4 5. d3
Alapin thinking Tarrasch had played the theorectical move 5.d4 instantly
replied 5...Be7?? 6.dxe4 1-0
