I'm currently reading "Turning Advantage into Victory in Chess" by Andrew Soltis and quite enjoying it. Came across this gem yesterday.

White to play
Botvinnik's Law
One aspect of technique is overlooked or underappreciated is the attacking of unprotected enemy pieces. This could be called Botvinik's Law, because of a story Garry Kasparov told of a game he adjourned when he was 14 years old.
Kasparov called his mentor, Mikhail Botvinnik, seeking advice, he recalled in "Kasparov against the world." He began describing the position but Botvinnik cut him off.
"Garry, just tell me one thing: Is your bishop protected by a pawn?"
"No," said Kasparov.
"Then you are lost," the former world champion told him.
Kasparov didn't want to believe this since he had stopped White's passed b-pawn and left himself with only one weak point, at g6. But his bishop was vulnerable to attack. White carefully prevented him from playing ...Be3! and steadily made progress:
1. Rc6 Be5
2. b4! Bd4
3. Rc4! Ba7
4. Re6! Rd5
5. h4+ Kxh4
6. Rxg6 ...
White eventually won by winning the f-pawn and pushing his two passers.

I finished my own CD, sent it off to my buddy George Winston, he is on the road so his people at Dancing Cat will send it by fedex to his next location. He was in Louisiana last time we chatted by email. I also emailed a few times to John McEuen, founder of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, who now has a DJ job on XM satellite radio. He has a nice show there, I sent him an email saying how I liked his show on the folk channel, chan 15 (the village) and he answered me back, I had mentioned I just finished my cd of my own compositions and he was interested, said to send it to him, he has a music studio in Hollywood hills and he said he would give a listen and maybe play a couple of cuts on his show! News at 11.
