Breaking a line of pawns...

Any thoughts on the best way to break a line of pawns all stacked up to eat the first piece you submit?

Attacking from the back ranks, I take it, is the best... but I'm a complete novice, so I figured I would ask for insight.

Can you give an example of the situation? I think there could be many different answers to your question depending on the situation.
