My table jumped as a result of Carlsen thumping the table 🙂

@congruent

Elegant finish. … d2 loses to Nxe3.

It was a coincidence that I was posting the last blog. A lone Knight
against pawns at the same time this game was being played.

Carlsen had the better chances for a large part of this game and Gukesh
admitted he was losing. It was here are 25 seconds thought.

Carlsen worked out the centre pawns would beat the Knight and played 52...Ne2+

52...Re8 was the move but seeing his winning positiion fading he talked himself
into going for the piece sac. The frustration when he realised he was lost = BANG!

Gukesh, in time trouble, spotted the correct Knight route and picked out the win.

I suspect that here,...

...Carlsen had only looked at 55.Nxg6 when Black does indeed win.

I saw this tournament, Magnus won it. It was the Norway tournament correct? He had a draw in his last game and waited on the other game. The player blundered and Magnus was declared champion of Norway.

Do I have this wrong? Were you just showing what could have happened?

Magnus is the Norway Champion of 2025
Magnus Carlsen pips D Gukesh to Norway Chess 2025 title. Magnus Carlsen won the Norway Chess title for the seventh time in his career, after a sensational fightback in the final round to draw against Arjun Erigaisi in the Classical game, which eventually put him out of reach of the likes of D Gukesh and Fabiano Caruana

Magnus won the tournament but only just. His opponent blundered and so did Gukesh against Caruana.

a WIN is a win thought right? Magnus made less mistakes which made him champ.
What makes them so great is the ability not to make mistakes. Which is why Magnus won. Credit is where credit is due.
