Last Friday I played a Caro-Kann game that resulted in the following position
The move order was
1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. Nc3 dxe4 4. Nxe4 Bf5 5. Ng3 Bg6 6. Nf3 Nd7 7. h4 h6 8. Bd6 Bxd6 9. Qxd6 Nf6 10. Bf4 Nd5 11. Ne2 Nxf4 12. Nxf4 e6 13. 0-0-0 Qc7
At this point I sacked my knight on e6 and then checked with my queen on g6. Would anyone be willing to analyze the knight sack, whether or not it can lead to recovering the material with an advantage or even a mate? And also possible black alternatives to ...Qc7. I was thinking maybe ...Qf6 but I'm not sure if that simply leads to other difficulties.
To be honest I can't quite remember how the game continued. The next position I am sure about I will post next.
my bad on all the pieces being black.
ok so in the second position it is after the knight sac a few moves.
Black has just moved his queen to e8 to threaten the white queen.
it continued
f6+ gxf6
exf6+ Kd7
Rd1+ Kc7
Qxe8
But that was a blunder. He could have blocked the rook check with the bishop and then black's rook would have protected his queen.
Would it be better to take with the queen and fork the rook?
In the exf6+ line I am thinking that doubling the queen and rook after he blocks with the bishop would be best. Then after he protects the bishop with the queen to play Qxa7 with the threat of Qxb7. What do you think?
I submitted the last post before i could finish it, rewrote it and submitted but it never appeared!?
Anyway, one last time i'll try. but it wont be as aleborate as it was just now!
d5 is a nice idea to execute, though the threat of Qf4+ is too potent. White is losing
The idea would be, if the king was on b1, to play Nxe6 fxe6 Qg6+ Ke7 d5! cxd5 Rxd5!
however with the king where it is d5 would lose to Qf4+ as a resource.
The best line i could see is Nxe6 fxe6 Qg6+ Ke7 Rh-d1 Qf4+ Rd2 with the idea of being able to double up on either d or e pawn with rooks. If not, Kb1 would be fine. After Rd2 Qf6! would dissolve white's attack and he is clearly losing.
Because the king is open to checking (giving black a tempo and queen into the defence asa result) and black is immediately threatening to take the knight there is no way to postpone the tactic and play later because black can castle. Howevere if instead white plays Qe3 i think black should castle however there is a great temptation to play Bd6 attacking the knight where white can play Nxe6 and it gets interesting. though, sound? Perhaps
