I don't think it's cheating looking up openings.
And if you're proud of getting a draw that way, absolutely
no problems with me πŸ™‚

What I do dislike, is copying of ongoing games.
Take a look at these two, but please don't comment on them as they're still in progress:
Game 1293439 and Game 1293116

Even though the games are still in progress, I feel like commenting about the move history since you are talking about copying.
1. I do use databases (I'm not saying this makes me too proud of anything). In these games we were following databases analysis up to move number 20something.
2. From what I understand(OTB rating about 2000) these games are very tactical and most moves (when the database lines were left) were forced.
3. Did you realise that quite often it was me who moved in one game before you moved on the other? (No, I'm not accusing you.) Or how else do you explain that I slowly got to an "advantage" of having about 2.5 days more left on the timebank than you had, before I was away from the computer for a few days.

There are many who say following a database is wrong, but you have to learn somehow. I'm not a great sicilian player, I'm still trying to figure the concept of it out. I'm a king's indian player. I'd rather play the alekhine then the sicilian. I defended with the sicilian in the one day league to force myself to learn more about the style. I put on my profile that I will consult books and db's. I will do my best to study every position to it's fullest. This is how I learn. I will not feel any shame in admitting that I study games of masters to improve my chess. I have a decent mind for tactics, but I obviously am not going to just guess the best positional openings and lines through pure luck and circumstance.

What makes me proud Cludi, is that I am improving.
